Smuggler held with heroin worth Rs 7.5 lakh in Jammu

JAMMU: Police arrested a woman smuggler and seized heroin worth Rs 7.50 lakh from her possession during an intensified patrolling and special ‘nakas’ in Jammu‘s Samba district.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Benam Tosh said, “Acting on a tip-off, police arrested Rajveer Kaur, an inter-state heroin smuggler from a mud house in Samba.”
“The arrested supplier is the main inter-state heroin smuggler involved in smuggling and supplying heroin (‘chitta’) from Punjab to Kathua, Samba, Jammu and adjoining areas,” SSP Samba Tosh said.
“Rajveer Kaur (28), wife of Jaswant Singh, a resident of Punjab, used to smuggle heroin from Punjab all alone in passenger vehicles to evade frisking and used to supply the same to the local suppliers of Jammu division.
“A case has been registered at Vijaypur police station and further investigation has been started to unearth the whole illegal network of smugglers and suppliers of narcotic substances in Samba and adjoining districts.”
