LeT terrorist killed in encounter in Kashmir’s Bandipora

SRINAGAR: Security forces gunned down a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist during an encounter in the Chandaji area of Bandipora in north Kashmir early Tuesday.

The encounter comes just days after an operation was carried out in south Kashmir in which a Pakistani terrorist, identified as ‘Lamboo’, and his associate were killed.

The duo were conspirators in the 2019 Pulwama attack.

IG (Kashmir range) Vijay Kumar said the encounter broke out in the Chandaji area of Bandipora early morning after police received specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired upon the forces, who retaliated.

“A foreign LeT terrorist Babar Ali who had escaped from the Shokbaba operation on July 24 was killed at Chandajji forest in an encounter,” Kumar said.

The terrorist was identified as Babar Ali, who is resident of Ugada district of Punjab in Pakistan.

Ali was on the radar of the forces after he had managed to escape from the Shokbaba encounter site on July 24.

Incriminating material as well as arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of the encounter.
