Jammu Man Who Allegedly Murdered Estranged Wife, Caught By Cops

Three years ago, Akhtar tied knots with the accused, identified as Mohammad Shabir. Soon after their relation turned sour, Shabir sent his wife to her parent’s house, according to reports.

However, when the deceased was grazing cattle in a nearby field in her parental village, Shabir along with his brother Majeed allegedly attacked her with sharp weapons and killed her on the spot. The officer added that both the accused brothers fled the crime scene and hid in Reasi and Rajouri districts respectively.

An investigation team suspected that Shabir could be hiding in the Rajouri district and raided all possible places. He was arrested from the Bela colony of the district early morning while he was in an attempt to hire a vehicle with the aim to flee to Kashmir via Mughal Road.

Majeed was arrested from the upper reaches of the Kunderdan forest area while he was in an attempt to sneak into Kashmir valley via the Kounsarnag mountain pass.
