The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday shot down a hexacopter drone in Akhnoor area of Jammu district. The drone shot down 8 km inside the International Borders.

Police also recovered improvised explosive device weighing 5 kg (IED) which was to be assembled and to be used by terrorists, police said.

Agencies are probing whether terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba is behind the drone activity and using this modus operandi for a terror attack as in previous cases.

This is not the first time a drone was spotted in Jammu or near the International Borders. Since the twin blasts at the Jammu airbase on June 27, several drones were spotted in a month on multiple locations, raising threat of a drone attack.
