Shein back in India on Amazon Prime Day. Memes flood Twitter.

Happiness knows no bounds for desi Twitter all across the country after it was announced that Shein will be re-launched in India on Amazon during their annual Prime Day sale, scheduled to start on the midnight of July 26 and continue until July 27. Shein occupied one of the top spots on social media and trended furiously as netizens shared hilarious memes and jokes on Twitter.

Shein, an e-commerce platform with its headquarters in China, was banned by the Indian government in June last year along with several other Chinese apps including TikTok. India had banned the Chinese apps in the wake of border tensions in Ladakh after a violent face-off between the Indian and Chinese armies.

Meanwhile, social media users posted meme templates from films such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Hera Pheri and Tere Naam to express sheer joy over the return of Shein in the Indian market. Most of the funny graphics, though, were to describe the reaction of the girls, who, indeed are rather excited owing to Amazon re-launching Shein.

True that.

Oh yes!

So cute!

Several other memes were shared so as to describe the reaction of other e-commerce websites with respect to Shein’s return to India.

Well well.

Shein, however, will be launched only as a seller on Amazon and not as a separate e-commerce platform like before.

The government, last year, released a statement and said that the Chinese apps engaged in activities that were “prejudicial to the sovereignty, integrity and defence of India.” Apart from India, Taiwan had also banned some Chinese apps. Germany, in fact, also banned Zoom.
