Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Ladakh on Sunday to take stock of the security situation in the Union Territory.

Rajnath Singh will also be inaugurating the roads and bridges built by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to improve connectivity for the defence forces in the area.

India and China on Friday, at the 22nd meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC), agreed to resolve outstanding issues in the eastern Ladakh region.

China had recently blamed India for encroaching its territory. The Chinese foreign ministry said that New Delhi’s aggressive policies are responsible for the ongoing tension along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Relations between India and China have been tense since May 2020. The situation worsened in June after a fierce clash between the two sides killed 20 soldiers on the Indian side.
