Just in! Director Srijit Mukherji has replaced Rahul Dholakia as the director of Taapsee Pannu-starrer ‘Shabaash Mithu’

Like most films that have been delayed due to the pandemic, the biopic of woman cricketer Mithali Raj, titled ‘Shabaash Mithu’ has also been waiting for its time to go on the floors. While the film’s lead actress, Taapsee Pannu, has already begun work on her form and shots, the makers are yet to decide when to start the shoot.
In the latest development on the film, ETimes has found that the biopic will now be directed by Srijit Mukherji instead of Rahul Dholakia who was earlier at the helm of affairs. A source close to the development informs, “The production house will soon make an announcement about the change. They are also planning to start shooting soon”.

Last year, speaking to PTI, Rahul had informed, “‘Shabaash Mithu’ was supposed to go on floors in July. I think after the lockdown is lifted, it will go on floors hopefully this year. We had thought of Mumbai and Hyderabad as the location, but now we will have to see which places are shooting friendly”.

Working predominantly in Bengali cinema, Srijit made his foray into Bollywood with the 2017 film, ‘Begum Jaan’ headlined by Vidya Balan, which was a remake of the director’s Bengali film ‘Rajkahini’. Meanwhile, Rahul, who had last directed the Shah Rukh Khan and Mahira Khan-starrer ‘Raees’ would have got back behind the camera with this one. However, now it remains to be seen as to what project will he take up next.
Both Srijit and Rahul remained unavailable for comment.
