Jammu, June 21: The central leadership of Congress held consultation with senior party leadership of Jammu and Kashmir over the issue of all party meet called by the Centre, on JK scheduled to be held on June 24.
A statement from the party said that the JKPCC President G A Mir organised and co-ordinated the meeting of senior JK leaders with former leader of the opposition in RajyaSabha and senior AICC leader GhulamNabi Azad and AICC incharge JK affairs RajniPatil.
The Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir shared their views on various aspects of the issue and gave their inputs about the current situation and the sentiments and aspirations of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.
The leaders viewed that people are facing great hardships under the present “bureaucratic regime” in the absence of a democratic government for almost three years now, the statement said.
According to the statement the leaders further said that the Central government earlier also, did not take people on board, especially, the mainstream forces, who have always fought against the designs of anti-national and anti-social forces.
“More than two years after the disbanding and downgrading of the historical state, the people are deprived of full statehood status and rights and lack of a duly elected government. The promises have remained unfulfilled and claims proved hollow as a result people of different sections are fed up especially the educated youth are getting frustrated,” the statement said.
The Congress had in its resolution on August 6, 2019 called for immediate restoration of full statehood but the government failed to do so without any reason and didn’t listen to the voice of the people, the fundamental principle in democracy as followed in this country through dialogue to resolve all contentious issues, the statement reiterated.
