Hours after the ghastly terror attack in Sopore, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said it has identified the perpetrators, who were involved in the attack, which claimed the lives of two constables and two civilians.

The top cop said that Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces are on the job and the terrorists will be neutralised at the earliest.

The IG visited Sopore soon after the attack, inspected the affected area and held a meeting with the Army’s Sector Commander and DIG’s of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

At 12 noon, LeT terrorists fired indiscriminately upon a police party which was performing Covid-19 enforcement duties at the main market, Sopore.

Among the injured police personnel, Constable Showkat Ahmad and Constable Waseem Ahmad succumbed to their injuries. Two civilians identified as Manzoor Ahmad Shalla and Bashir Ahmad, who were vegetable vendors, also succumbed to their injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the terrorists linked with proscribed terror outfit LeT were involved in the attack. The area was cordoned off following the attack and efforts are on to nab the terrorists.

A case has been registered in this regard under relevant sections of law. They are vigorously investigating all the circumstances of the terror attack.

To pay their honour and respect to the bravehearts, a wreath laying ceremony led by Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh was held at DPL Srinagar, where floral tributes were paid to the martyrs.
