Srinagar, May 20 (UNI) Intensifying its action against COVID curfew violators, police imposed a fine of about Rs 2 lakh on 1469 people and arrested 216 others during the last 24 hours in Kashmir valley for violating the lockdown and other guidelines imposed by the administration to curtail the spread of the virus.
A police spokesperson said that police also filed 107 FIRs and seized eight vehicles in the valley.
He said that since the outbreak of second wave of Coronavirus, police have enhanced its efforts to sensitise the masses about controlling the highly contagious infection. “Slew of measures, including restrictions under section 144 CrPC, have been put into place to contain the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
“During the last 24 hours, police has arrested 216 persons, lodged 107 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of Rs 1,98,190 from 1469 people for violating the guidelines/rules in the Kashmir valley,” he said.
Besides, he said eight vehicles were also seized in Kulgam for violating guidelines/restrictions. “The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/ guidelines envisaged by government to curb COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
He said community members are once again requested to cooperate with the Police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/ guidelines/ protocols for the safety of the people. “The special drive shall continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures,” he added.
